U.S. Kids Golf Comes to Jekyll Island
Jekyll Island’s golf complex hosts the annual U.S. Kids Golf Tournament on Saturday, February 16 through Monday, February 18. The U.S. Kids Golf Jekyll Island Cup is an invitation-only tournament that showcases young avid golfers ages 6 to 12 from across the United States. As a qualifier for the U.S. Kids Golf World Championship, participants in the tournament have to opportunity to receive an invitation to the World Championship in 2008. The top 3 finishers in each age and gender group who meet scoring requirements for the World tournament automatically receive an invitation to play in the U.S. Kids Golf World Championship. The top five finishers in each age and gender group also receive trophies. Celebrating it’s fifth year of competition, the Jekyll Island Cup allows young golfers the chance to not only exercise their expertise on the course, but also to play with a wide range of different golfers. 2007’s 11 year old female winner was Cindy Feng Yueer of Sen Zhen, China. Cindy was on an extended visit to the United States while she was studying at a golf academy in Florida. The 2007 U.S. Kids Golf Jekyll Island Cup attracted 411 players from 37 states and four different countries. The excitment of worldwide competition and the natural beauty of Jekyll Island makes the U.S. Kids Golf Jekyll Island Cup Regional Championship a great event for any young golfer (and family!) to enjoy.

This is what I found on the U.S. Kids Golf website:
ELIGIBILITY
Please note, eligibility criteria will change for the 2009 Jekyll Island Cup.
Invitations will be emailed to all kids meeting the age, eligibility, and scoring requirements (below). Spots for the Jekyll Island Cup are limited, entries will be on a first come, first served basis. An invitation does not guarantee a spot and entries may be terminated at any time.
2007 Summer Local Tour Player of the Year honorees in each age and gender group who have participated in at least 4 events from that Local Tour and meet the scoring requirement.
2006 /2007 Winter Local Tour Player of the Year honorees in each age and gender group who have participated in at least 4 events from that Local Tour and meet the scoring requirement.
2007 Summer and 2006/2007 Winter Local Tour players in each age and gender group who finish in 2nd and 3rd place in total season points and have participated in at least 4 events from that Local Tour and meet the scoring requirement.
The top 3 finishers in each age and gender group from the 2007 U.S. Kids Golf World Championship Qualifiers who meet the scoring requirement.
The top 25 finishers in each age and gender group from the 2007 Jekyll Island Cup who meet the scoring requirement.
The top 25 finishers in each age and gender group from the 2007 World Championship who meet the scoring requirement.
SIBLING POLICY
The sibling of any player receiving an invitation to the Jekyll Island Cup, who meets the scoring requirement below, will be granted an exemption to the Jekyll Island Cup. Please register at the same time as your sibling.
SCORE REQUIREMENT
Because of the high caliber of play, we require that all kids attending the Jekyll Island Cup must have shot the scores below in the U.S. Kids Golf event in which they qualified.
BOYS - 45 or lower on 9 holes and 90 or lower on 18 holes
GIRLS - 47 or lower on 9 holes and 94 or lower on 18 holes
