Saturday Night Reunion Party

One Swing at a Time

Friday, August 15th, participants can play in the most talked about summer golf tournament in South Georgia. Tee times begin at 9:00am until 11:00am at the Indian Mounds golf course. Registration is $80 per player with lunch provided by Morgan’s Grill.

All participants receive two tickets to Friday night’s Swingin Medallions concert with many prizes available for the winning players.

Don’t miss out on all the fun at the Friday night shag contest, hosted by the Golden Isles Shag Club, and the FREE beach concert Saturday from 10:00am to 6:00pm. The 25th annual Beach Music festival is sponsored by Jekyll Island Authority, Georgia Tourism, Coca Cola, Bacardi, Corona, and Comcast.

Twice is Always Nice: Catch twice the fun on Jekyll Island July 4th weekend

Jekyll Island and Summer Waves are presenting you with tons of booming fun this 4th of July weekend.  Enjoy twice the fun this year with a fireworks showcase on July 4th at the Jekyll Island Beachdeck and again July 5th at Summer Waves.

Don’t miss out on the fun July 4th beginning at 5:00 PM on the beachdeck as the Big Dawg and Paul show celebrate with us with lots of games and prizes.  Enjoy the tantalizing treats of food vendors ranging from funnel cakes and cotton candy to hamburgers and pulled pork.  As night falls, part one of an amazing display of fireworks will capture you and bring delight to all in attendance.

July 5th Summer Waves brings tons of splashing fun enjoyable for the whole family.  As  5:00 PM hits guest can enjoy music, prizes, karaoke, and part two of an outstanding firework display. Mark your calendars for the upcoming celebration.

A Blast from the Past: 25 years and Counting

JEKYLL ISLAND PRESENTS- BEACH MUSIC FESTIVAL ‘08

Jekyll Island, Ga. (May 28, 2008)—Get ready for the excitement! Jekyll Island Beach Music Fest ‘08 takes place August 15-16.  Don’t miss out on the big news this year; Celebrating 25 years of fun in the sun, Jekyll Island is bringing back an old tradition with a FREE concert on the beach Saturday afternoon.  If you love beach music, frat rock, R & B, and shag music this concert is just for you.  The concert kicks off with the Rickey Godfrey Band at 12PM, followed by Second Chance at 2:30PM, and completed with headliners the Swinging Medallions at 4:30PM. Everyone is invited to this free party on the beach while listening to live performances complete with Corona beer and delicious food from various vendors.

However, if sitting in the shade is more of your idea of fun, contact the Jekyll Island Visitor Information Center and sign up to be a Beach Concert VIP. VIP guests receive a free lunch catered by Straton Hall Caterers, snacks, desserts, soft drinks, and beer while relaxing under the VIP tent during the Saturday afternoon Beach Concert.  Tickets are $50 and sell quickly, so purchase your’s soon. 

To complete this rockin’ weekend, guests can enjoy Friday and Saturday evening concerts featuring the Swinging Medallions at the Jekyll Island Convention Center’s Atlantic Hall.  In addition, golfers can start their weekend early with the annual Beach Music Festival Golf Tournament Friday morning.  Tickets for the evening concerts and registration forms for the Golf Tournament can be found online at www.jekyllisland.com/beachmusicfestival.

Vida the Sea Turtle Gets Ready to Go Home

Vida, the teenage loggerhead sea turtle that stranded in St. Augustine this winter, is on her way back to the sea. Today, at the Georgia Sea Turtle Center, she received her satellite transmitter, flipper tags and PIT tag and is resting quietly awaiting her ride to Amelia Island tomorrow.

A: At the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and North Fletcher Avenue in Fernandina Beach on Amelia Island, Florida.
Directions to Main Beach Park from Interstate 95:
Exit at SR-200/SR-A1A and continue east for 12.1 miles
Turn right on CR-108/Sadler Road and continue 1.3 miles
Turn left at S Fletcher Ave/SR-A1A and continue north 2.0 miles to the stop light at Atlantic Ave

Celebrate Mother’s Day on Jekyll Island with an Island Treasures Hunt

Island Treasures are the unique and colorful glass globes, hand-crafted especially for Jekyll Island by artisans across the country. Volunteer “Beach Buddies” hide the celebrated glass globes on Jekyll Island’s beaches in January and February, for beachcombers to discover throughout the spring and summer. This year, in celebration and recognition of Mother’s Day, Beach Buddies will hide an additional 20 Island Treasures on Jekyll Island’s beaches for a special Mother’s Day Island Treasures Hunt. Twenty lucky moms will find and keep their own special Mother’s Day gift while beachcombing with their families on Jekyll Island.

To complete your Mother’s Day weekend, Jekyll Island offers a variety of affordable accommodations and activities sure to please mom. If mom isn’t among the 20 lucky finders, she can always purchase her own Island Treasure from the large assortment for sale at the Jekyll Island Visitor Information Center or online at http://www.jekyllisland.com/islandtreasures. Festival Artwork Needed

We are looking for a festival artist for this year’s Shrimp & Grits Festival.  The artwork will be copied and sold at the festival, September 19-21.  The artist will receive a monetary prize plus the option to auction off the artwork at the 2008 festival. If you are an artist and would like to submit a design, please contact Event Marketing Manager, Beth Burnsed at (912) 635-4189. Please keep in mind that the artwork must represent the Shrimp & Grits festival, it must be colorful and it must be 24×36 or proportional to 24×36.
