Summer Waves Water Park Now Open All Week

Summer Waves Water Park on Jekyll Island is now open all week just in time for Memorial Day weekend. Regular park hours are Monday-Friday are 10 am - 6 pm with extended park hours on Saturday and Sunday.
Summer Waves Water Park offers six rushing water slides, the Turtle Creek lazy river, kiddie play zone, Splash Zone with a giant tipping bucket, and the Frantic Atlantic Wave Pool with waves reaching 2-4 feet high. In addition to cooling off, this season guests can “Have a Rockin Summer” at Summer Waves Water Park with in-park Wii Rock Band and karaoke competitions every weekend. For a quick, cool bite to eat the park features Larry’s Giant Subs and several snack stands serving cool drinks and cool treats.

Summer Waves Water Park is ready for season 2009!

Jekyll Island’s Summer Waves Water Park opens May 9th for a Summer of cool fun and rockin’ music. In addition to thrilling water slides, splashing attractions, and relaxing ways to stay cool, this season Summer Waves Water Park is offering guests a variety of rockin’ in-park activities.
To kick-off the season, Summer Waves Water Park and Radio Disney present an afternoon of Jonas Brothers karaoke from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM on May 9. Guests will have the opportunity to show off their talents and sing their hearts out to their favorite Jonas Brothers’ songs. As an added bonus, Radio Disney will take registrations for two tickets to the Jonas Brothers concert in Tampa, FL on August 18. Registrations are accepted May 9 through May 31 at Summer Waves Water Park with the winner announced on June 1.
Throughout the summer, guests also can take a break from their swimming and splashing to compete in other karaoke contests as well as Wii © Rock Band and Guitar Hero competitions. Competitions will take place every weekend and great prizes are available for winners.
“We want to make sure that everyone has a great experience at Summer Waves,” said Steve Sharpe, General Manager of Summer Waves Water Park. “Our karaoke and Rock Band competitions have always been crowd favorites, and this year we wanted to respond to our guests’ suggestions and have more contests, more often.”

TROPICAL STORM FAY IMPACT – JEKYLL ISLAND, GEORGIA

Jekyll Island, located off the coast of Georgia near Brunswick and approximately 60 miles north of Jacksonville, Florida reports today that NO SERIOUS DAMAGE was sustained. Rain and wind caused some debris, and maintenance crews are finishing clean-up and minor repair efforts. ALL PUBLIC AMENITIES ARE OPEN, and access to the island is open and clear. The Sidney Lanier Bridge, which connects Hwy. 17 from Brunswick opened Saturday after being closed briefly due to high winds last week.
The Jekyll Island Golf facility was open Sunday, with the Pine Lakes course open for play. Indian Mound course will open Tuesday, and Oleander will open Saturday 8/30.
Summer Waves Water Park on Jekyll Island was open Sunday, and will operate its normal schedule of weekends and holidays now through September.
No damage was sustained to the any historic structures in the Jekyll Island Historic District, and the Museum is open and operating a normal tour schedule.
All beaches are open and accessible. All hotels and rental cottages are open.
Debris removal is in high gear and preparations are underway for the upcoming Labor Day Weekend. Guests will be able to enjoy the beautiful beach and island amenities during this traditional beach holiday weekend. Some hotel rooms are still available, check the website at www.jekyllisland.com.

Thursday, August 21st, 2008It was a splashtacular good time with Radio Disney AM 600 at Summer Waves! The Radio Disney Road Crew was on site Sunday, July 13th from 1pm – 3pm with music, karaoke, games and prizes galore! Plus, kids ages 14 and under could register for their chance to win a fabulous DVD – drawings were held every 30 minutes! And there was still more – kids could pick up their office 3D Glasses for the Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus Best of Both Worlds Concert 3D Movie airing on the Disney Channel, while supplies lasted! Everyone had an awesome time.
